2 Weight Loss Tips For The Holidays

2 Weight Loss Tips For The Holidays

No matter how hard you try it’s difficult to avoid overindulging on foods during the holidays especially when you’re with family and friends. Or even just sneaking off to fast food restaurants. It’s easy to say I’ve deprived myself of these foods all year, but hey this is the holidays…

I know this from experience. I once went on a short vacation and winded up binging on fast foods most of the time there and ended up gaining a few pounds in only a few days. Unhealthy fast food pounds at that. Well I didn’t eat that much fast food, but the extra pounds easily found it’s way there.

No matter how hard you try it’s extra difficult while on vacation. I find that it’s hard for me not to indulge in the forbidden foods around Christmas and New Years especially, you know with all the partying and rushing around and everything. I mean you work all year to to take off the extra weight and wind up putting most of it back during the end of the year celebrations.

Here’s 2 tips that I’ve had to learn the hard way:

1. Avoid empty calories (especially soft drinks) Whenever you’re thirsty drink a glass of water rather then having a soft drink. Even diet soft drinks tend to cause weight gain. Avoid soft drinks and beer like the plague if you must have calories at least let it be real food.

2. Eat raw fruits and vegetables. When on vacation you might be tempted to sit back and relax on your normal eating habits and have some fast food. But is it worth it? Remind yourself that you’ll need to spend some extra time at the gym when you return home. Fruits and vegetables tend to suppress the appetite and helps to keep you from overeating while away from home. Eat the whole fruit rather than having fruit juice as it still contains the fibers which hasn’t been processed out of it.
